Today was the Running of the Leopards 5k. It was snowing and icy and cold. I got a mile warmup in. I was super tired from yesterday, I didn't get much sleep last night either so that didn't help either. I was a bit worried about my hip. I really wasn't prepared to race either, I was still in my sleepy mode.

I got out pretty good, but after like 50 meters I could feel how tired my legs were. My first mile was 5:41. I tried to fight a few people here and there. But pretty soon people were passing me. I was tired and didn't want to push very hard. Then I saw Bill and he told me to try to catch up to Abigail, so I tried again. Going along Sunnyside I picked up the pace, but somehow I managed to slow down again, but at least now I was going at the same pace as people around me. 2nd mile was 6:11. 3rd was 6:04. The 300 mark I started to kick, 200 slowed down yet again, 100 some girl started to pass me and I got mad and outkicked her. I think I elbowed her quite a few times, now I feel bad. Every time I'm aggressive I feel bad, but every time I'm not I regret it. :(

I was 2nd in age division, 3rd girl overall. I need to work on the last little bit of my race. I talked to Natalie this weekend and she shared some things with me, and I think it was what I needed, now I know what to do, and I have a bit more confidence. Thanks Nat!!

Then I went on a cool down with Bill, Chris and Tomy, we went up to guardsman then to the cemetery and did 2 laps, then to the school and Bill and I continued to Liberty and went the long way, then went along 6th East and back.

I feel like a slacker now, I went home and took a 4 hour nap and then it was too late to go for my evening run :( At least I got some sleep. I've been sleep deprived for weeks now, and I think that's why it's been so hard for me to run in the mornings.
