Before we left for Utah State we did a 2 mile shakeout on VA Loop. Warmed up 2 miles with a few pick ups. Almost missed my race! So I didn't get to stretch like I wanted but oh well. Legs were a little tight to begin with. Race started quick, 800 was 2:35ish, felt fast but not like I was dying. I like died the last 400, should have worked it but I mentally crashed. It went by so fast. Time was 5:28. Half of the race I wasn't even thinking about what I was doing, I just sort of went out and ran it. Then when it got to the 5th and 6th laps I started to hurt and didn't want to. It's frustrating for me because I know I have to hurt. But for a first meet I'm happy with it, I know it's gonna be my slowest mile time of the year because I'm gonna keep improving. I'm going sub-5:20 at BYU in two weeks. Maybe even PR there!

After cheering on everyone else we went for a cool down, 2.25 miles. Then hung out and a while later warmed up a mile for the 3200. My knee had bothered me a bit in the mile and on the warmup so Bill massaged it. Then two strides. Ran in flats to make it easier on my legs. Bill had said to separate from the others fast so I did that. Ran a 79 first 400. First mile was 5:47. Then I knew I had a good gap and could back off a lot and still win. So that's kind of what I did. It was kind of a lonely 2 mile. I could have sworn I lapped everyone but somehow second place was 7 seconds behind me... Oh well. Time was like 12:20. Ha. That'll be my slowest of the year too. I'm not ever going above 12 in the 3200 again this year.

Cooled down a mile inside then went out with everyone for 2.25. Afterward we went to Maddox where we set the record for the most rolls eaten. The waiter said no one had made it past the 4th bowl. Challenge accepted! Most of the credit goes to Garek and Jakob, I'm impressed. Also congrats to Garek for 2nd in the 1600 and 1st in 3200.

2015 is gonna be a great year, I can feel it!
