Today was the Murray invitational. I didn't do as well as I wanted to. I had a hard time getting myself to push. I never have done very well with Cross Country, last year being injured and all, and I wasn't good my Freshman year, but I still have high hopes for this season. I was just disappointed with how I raced and my time and pretty much everything about it.

i ran with the rookie girls for about a half mile to the bathrooms, then talked to some of the U girls after they finished their races, or at least the ones I knew :) they're nice

So we restarted, which was good because the second time I got out better. I feel like I treated the start of this race like the start of a 1600, I felt like I was going fast then when the group naturally slowed down it felt slower than it should've been but then I reminded myself this was a 5k not a 1600m run. I did well the first mile, didn't catch my time because my watch didn't start (I got a new garmin and am still figuring things out about it) but it felt fast. Then going up snake it came faster than I expected and it was hard for me to work up, then I was tired for the soccer field and had a hard time getting myself to race after that. The people started passing and everything went downhill. I tried to match people but it was hard. With 800 left I knew I needed to pick it up but couldn't get myself to. It was a crappy race, but I guess I'll just have to learn from it and move on. I find I've been beating myself up lately, I haven't felt the joy running has given me in the past for a while now. I think having a good race and doing well in workouts might help, but that means I'll have to start working harder. It's been a rough start to my season.
