Today was the UVU Invitational. We left later than planned, and the bus lady took a wrong turn, so we were late. To make matters worse, they were doing fastest heats first, and the 1600 was the very first event. Great. So I grabbed my spikes and got off the bus in my socks, ran to the line with Bill and they put my number on my arm (it hurt to pull off) and I threw on my spikes. Absolutely no warmup, they were all waiting for me. I didn't even have time to think about my race plan. It was probably the weirdest race ever, I had no feel for how fast I was going, I didn't know if these girls were going too fast or too slow, I just stuck with the pack. I was towards the back, the first lap was 77. I don't know any other splits, they didn't call any of the other ones out. Probably because I wasn't close enough to the front, which is annoying. I was cold if anything. I really didn't warm up until the last lap where I finally felt warm. It went by much faster than I thought it would. I wasn't focused, it didn't really settle in that it was a race and I needed to be pushing until a few minutes after my race. I felt better after my race than I did before. I got 5:32, which I'm disappointed about. I wanted to get under 5:20 today, but I guess I have to try to do that another time. For no warmup I guess it's alright, I was only 3 seconds off of my PR. I did a mile cool down with Megan and Sarah.

Then I sat around for hours, and finally I warmed up. I did 1.5 plus about .25 worth of strides. I was in the medley doing the 800. I was SO HUNGRY I only packed a few snacks, I didn't think it through when packing. My split was 2:34-2:35, but our team got DQ'd because of a handoff. (I think it was mine and now I feel bad. I hate handoffs.) I did a mile cool down.

Then I warmed up with Megan for a mile and continued to 2, .25 of strides. I was doing the 4x400, but because of asthma I think it was, our 3rd girl dropped out, and I was supposed to be the anchor, so I wasn't able to race :( Oh well, I can relate so I don't blame her. Then I did 1.25 cool down.
